STUDENT RUN DIVISION OF THE GENOCIDE PREVENTION NETWORK
The Trumbull High School STAND club is a group of students who care about raising awareness and money for conflicts in Sudan. As President of STAND I am able to make a difference by involving other students in fundraising efforts in our local community and raising awareness in our High School. We are currently supporting an organization to build schools in southern Sudan as all of Sudan has suffered since the wars began in the 1980’s. The project we support is called Hope For Ariang and our mission is to help build a school and make education possible for the village of Ariang. www.HopeForAriang.org Recently our club raised money to have the founder of HOPE, Gabriel Bol Deng, speak at our school about his life as a small boy who had to flee his village during war. So far our club has raised over $4000 towards the school in Ariang village and the walls are stating to go up!

Please visit HOPE’s site above to learn more

As a Hope For Ariang Intern I developed the “Bricks Of Hope” Fundraising campaign. Schools around the country receive cardboard bricks to sell for $1 to help raise money for the school in ariang, Sudan. The program has raised over $8000.
