HELPING IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND ABROAD
BuildOn is club at Trumbull High and at Schools around the nation promoting service work in the local community and abroad. Our project this week was to prepare and cook a meal to be served to 150 Bridgeport residents under the viaduct at St John’s Street. Sunday Soup Kitchen was founded by Anne Marie Martinelli who has been cooking and serving meals for six years and has never had any assistance. So BuildOn jumped in to help out... But what to do with all the cans????
After 6 large pots of chili we had created way too much trash so I set to work to turn the cans into a creative can to collect funds for our next event.
Thank you buildOn for introducing me to the La Estrella community in Nicaragua. I will continue to work to bring education to the children in this village as I plan another return in 2011.
